         Spooks and spectres !…a figure emerged from the black hole, with a face like bone. Shadows engulfed Jim and I, as the candle extinguished. Jim’s ivory face cracked and his features became distinguishably scared. A scream emitted from Jim’s cracked lips. It was high and sharp and I was sure I saw his hairs rise.

I didn’t want to find out what it was. I was a statue, paralyzed to the spot. Although he wanted to explore everything, Jim was as scared as I was, and couldn’t move either! The thing seemed to be advancing down the stairs quicker now than before.

An owl hoot started the sounds of the night. It was soon followed by insects and creatures of all kinds, so that it was impossible to tell the animals apart. A light emitted from behind a tree as two shadows retreated from the area.

  Chapter 1  The Jump The wind was howling through the bare street of Cumberland Avenue bringing sheets of torrential rain with it.                        The Fox  Its nose gleamed and glinted with moisture and its tail hung low. The boy waited for the opportunity to shoot and collect the body.All of a sudden the moon came out behind a cloud and its light revealed that this fox was silver, with a streamline tail that looked like a professional painters brush.
